MEET THE
TEAM THAT
SIMPLIFIES

COMPLEXITY.

We work in the most contractually complex corner of the public sector.

Every person here earns their place. Meet the specialists who manage

PFI contracts, run compliant estates, and turn building data into

decisions you can defend.

LEADERSHIP

The Directors.

Setting the strategy, holding the line, leading from the front.

Ian Denison Inscyte Director

Ian Denison

DIRECTOR

Ian founded the business in 2007, bringing 35+ years of experience solving problems across facilities management, estates and public infrastructure. For the last two decades, he's worked at the sharp end of one of the most complex parts of the public estate – PFI – helping over 100 schools, 35 trusts and seven local authorities turn complexity into progress.

With his positive, can-do energy, Ian sees any problem as a challenge waiting for the right solution. He's passionate for change, working with private sector FM providers and driving new initiatives that unlock better outcomes for all parties.

Straight-talking is Ian's trademark. No spin, no sugar-coating - just the facts people need to hear. And when he walks into a meeting, you'll feel the energy shift and its direction change for the better.

Behind the sharp mind and Yorkshire wit, there's real warmth: every Christmas, Ian writes a personal thank-you letter to every single member of the team.

Stuart McAlpine Inscyte Director

Stuart McAlpine

DIRECTOR

Stuart directs the business, creates the strategy, and drives the team to deliver for clients. He's building Inscyte to benefit every stakeholder - especially the public sector clients and the team he leads. He brings a private sector background to the problems Inscyte solves, the yin to Ian's yang.

Stuart loves a challenge: a detailed contractual interpretation, a difficult technical problem, or a disagreement that needs resolving. Colleagues and clients come to him for answers on insurance, energy, finance, operations and capital works, and knowledgeable input across PFI, FM, construction and contracts.

Stuart is considered, but passionate. He'll defend his team and his clients without hesitation, always looking for a better way to move contracts forward and deliver maximum benefit for the public sector.

A dedicated family man, he's also a committed rugby union and cricket fan.

Rachel Forbes Inscyte Legal

Rachel Forbes

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR | LEGAL & COMMERCIAL SERVICES

Rachel advises clients on the legal workings of PFI contracts and helps steer the day-to-day direction of the business - legal, commercial, HR, financial, and everything in between. She loves nothing more than untangling a tricky legal issue.

PFI contracts were drafted by lawyers, but 20 years on, the wording rarely matches what's actually happening on the ground. Rachel is driven by giving clients the tools to fix what's going wrong - for the people it ultimately affects: the children in these schools.

Colleagues describe her as firm but fair. She's the person people go to first when something's not right - big or small. She listens more than most, wants to understand the detail before she decides, and stays calm when there's a lot going on.

Rachel is naturally competitive. She brings the same discipline and preparation to fitness, to supporting her childrens' football, and to a complex legal problem.

Sofie's team knows they can bring her any question - nothing is too small or irrelevant. Well organised, methodical, and a spreadsheet expert, she's also a bit of a metalhead on the side.

Maria Burton Inscyte

Reece runs Inscyte Support and manages multiple PFI contracts with our trust partners, making sure they get the best value for their money. Methodical and calm, unless there's a sport involved.

Charlotte Danks Inscyte Assistant Contracts Manager

Andria Halfacre Senior Contracts Manager Inscyte

Andria Halfacre

SENIOR CONTRACTS MANAGER

Andria shows clients how to cut through the complexity of PFI contracts and proposes realistic action. She identifies service failures, uncovers poor performance and gives clients the confidence to tackle issues.

Philip Heald

Methodical, and rarely satisfied with the first answer, he's known for engaging every relevant party along the way.

Yvonne King Inscyte Legal Services Manager

Yvonne King

LEGAL SERVICES MANAGER

Yvonne advises Inscyte and her colleagues on the legal issues they come across, providing internal legal guidance across the business rather than advising clients directly. She thrives on complex, detailed work - digging into documents, reviewing contract drafting, and guiding colleagues through difficult issues. She can always be counted on to see things through to the end.

IN THEIR WORDS

Why the team stays.

" The company was really welcoming, and I appreciated the ethos and values it promotes. What's surprised me most is learning how PFI actually works and seeing the level of collaboration involved. Even small process improvements can make a real difference for schools.

A normal day is busy, with lots of queries coming in from schools. Much of the role involves reviewing the contract for the right answers, managing jobs through the portal, and working with different teams to resolve issues.

The first few weeks were daunting, as I didn't come from a PFI background. But I was eager to learn and look for ways to help make positive changes. The support from the team made it easier to settle in and build my confidence.

The biggest changes since then have been my knowledge and confidence. I understand PFI and the contracts far better now, and I'm comfortable challenging things constructively to achieve the best outcome.

I felt proud at our last quarterly meeting, seeing how far we've come and reflecting on what we'd achieved together. It reinforced that everyone's contribution is valued.

I've stayed for two main reasons: I'm passionate about supporting the schools I've worked with, and I've built strong relationships. Working for Inscyte has also been a real positive for me and my family. The flexibility, support and trust I've been given are something I genuinely value.

I'd tell anyone who was thinking of applying that it's a great place to work with a supportive team - the flexibility really helps with maintaining a healthy work-life balance. It's a busy and rewarding role where you're encouraged to make a difference and keep learning."

Joanne Gaertner

PORTAL MANAGER | Joined September 2022

"Inscyte gave me the opportunity to move into a new sector and develop the necessary skills on the job. How close-knit the business is really resonated with me, everyone's accessible, from the top down.

What's surprised me most is the difference a small company like ours can make to such a wide audience. Trust is earned here, and then opportunities are self-made. I've had the freedom to take my career wherever I choose to focus my efforts.

No two days are the same. One day I'm working through reports and challenging contracts for answers, the next I've got a school on the brink of closure due to Mechanical & Electrical failures and it's my job to get them back on track. The only constant is the tea and the snacks.

When Inscyte Support was created, I was able to move quickly to help a client in need, taking a concept and turning it into a working business model that's still operational and successful today. I couldn't have done that without the trust and backing of the Directors.

The first few weeks were a complete rodeo. There's a brief, quiet moment of settling in, and I don't think I've been able to use the word 'quiet' since. There are just too many people to help.

I spent time understanding just how varied and sporadic the world of PFI can be before settling into my role and maturing into an established PFI and FM expert. Now I aim to make as big a difference as I can to facilities across the country, to get the very best outcome for the public."

Reece Child

SENIOR CONTRACTS MANAGER | Joined May 2024

"I read the job description and thought it sounded varied and interesting, then found the website and realised how unique the company actually was. A couple of phrases stuck with me: 'we are modern day Robin Hoods' and 'we will not apologise for having a social conscience.'

The team here are supportive and encouraging, and I've felt welcome from the start. I feel proud when I hear how passionately and strategically my colleagues work to get the best outcome for clients, sometimes under genuinely challenging circumstances.

I didn't know anything about PFI before I joined Inscyte. It's been a real eye opener.

If a friend was thinking of applying, I'd tell them to be prepared to be flexible, get stuck in, and do whatever's needed to make a difference."
